The Archanes area is a unique blend of history, nature, and authentic Cretan tradition. Just a short distance from Heraklion, visitors can explore important archaeological sites, picturesque villages, unique natural landscapes, and beaches that suit every preference.

Whether you are looking for cultural experiences, relaxation by the sea, or activities for the whole family, the region offers a wide variety of options that can be perfectly combined with your transfers.

On the northern side of Heraklion, you can visit the El Greco Museum in the village of Fodele, in about a 30 minute west distance. To the east, in Gournes, you will find the Cretaquarium, an excellent choice for families.

For entertainment, the area offers options for all ages, such as Acqua Plus Water Park in Hersonissos, golf courses for sports enthusiasts, as well as Watercity Waterpark Crete, one of the largest water parks in Crete.

 
     
 
 
 
     
 

The wider Archanes area is rich in historical and natural attractions. The Fourni Archaeological Site and Grove stands out, featuring important Minoan findings, a beautiful walking trail, and a small open-air theatre. In the settlement of Archanes, you will find the Archanes Archaeological Museum, as well as scattered Minoan remains throughout the village.

The Mount Juktas, with the chapel of Christ (celebrated in early August), offers unique panoramic views. At Anemospilia, important Minoan remains can also be found along with a breathtaking view over Heraklion.

Nearby (around 8 km) are the archaeological sites of Vathypetro, while in the village of Myrtia (10 km) you can visit the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum.

The area is also known for its approximately 12 visitable wineries offering wine tasting experiences, as well as olive mills that provide tours and tastings of local olive oil.
